Toison d’Or is a shopping mall located in Dijon, France and owned by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. This commercial property company seized an important opportunity when time came to refurbish the site. They did not only choose for a bigger surface and a new interior design, but above all they opted for a sustainable approach.

In 2008, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield established a global sustainability policy. Different targets were set out and Bopro was appointed. We assessed the building in order to obtain a BREEAM In-Use certificate and our advice helped to improve the performance of standing assets on a daily basis.

Sustainability is part of the culture and management of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield. The aim was to improve the performance of standing assets on a daily basis, and this goal was achieved.

Smart installations

Improvements were made through operational efficiency. The shopping experience is enhanced with digitally optimized lightning. Toison d’or reduces her carbon footprint with simple tricks: intelligent thermic installations, efficient management of heating and cooling. Watersaving and other energy-efficient appliances avoid a waste of resources and provide the best experience any time of the year.

BREEAM Excellent

This centre obtained a BREEAM In-Use certificate “Excellent”, which is more than an administrative constraint. It’s a promise to our planet and to future generations. It results in the fact that since 2006, Toison d’Or cumulated energy savings equivalent to the yearly consumption of 350 households. Inspiring, isn’t it?
