In Ghent, an entire zone is being upgraded between the R4 and the E40. “The Loop”, which includes Flanders Expo and IKEA, covers about 376,500 sqm and has fully developed by Banimmo, in collaboration with the City of Ghent. IKEA and Flanders Expo have of course remained, but homes, offices, shops and recreation areas were added to the site.

On the plots located on the Raymonde de Larochelaan, Bopro has worked on two office buildings with an underground parking garage and on the landscaping of the surrounding area.

The design for this development cames from Arch & Teco Architecture and Planning. Bopro nv acted as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and took care of BIM-management.

The buildings are mostly intended for the furnishing of offices, there is also a Business Centre and a restaurant.

Sustainable hub

Sustainability is a key feature of Networks Gent. The project has been awarded a BREEAM Excellent certificate and uses sustainable technologies such as geothermic energy, green roofs and rainwater harvesting. Every bicycle parking space has a charging station, and 20% of the car parking spaces have a charging station.

Location

The fact that this zone is located next to the E17 and E40 ensures optimal accessibility for both those who come from far and near. Tram 1 quickly connects this area with Sint-Pietersstation and Ghent city centre. In the coming years, the range of public transport will be further expanded and additional bicycle and pedestrian connections will be developed.

Phases

This project is built in phases, where phase 1 includes construction of the underground car park (± 125 underground parking spaces, 4,600 sqm) and building B (9,242 sqm). Phase 2 includes construction of building A (6,011 sqm).
