London, 5th of March 2015. BREEAM Awards 2015. Gathering the top of the sustainable built environment and showing a clear evolution in the sustainable real estate market.
Bopro was honored to be on the shortlist for the fourth consecutive year. This year we were nominated for two awards with in total 5 different projects. The awards were spread out over 15 categories going from industrial to residential projects and from new construction to refurbishment. Bopro was in both categories honorably mentioned by the jury for the work we did together with Unibail Rodamco in creating an overall sustainable portfolio instead of focusing on a stand-alone project.
An event like this is a good indication for where the sustainable market is going. This year the jury rewarded those that stood out and innovated. Some winning projects were the first sustainable project in a certain part of the world, others won because they went the extra mile and innovated in a specific field. An award ceremony celebrates the exceptional and this is becoming more and more difficult in today’s sustainable built environment. Achieving a BREEAM Excellent no longer suffices for winning an award, achieving a BREEAM Outstanding certificate might not even satisfy the jury. Real innovation gets you the award.
This is how far sustainability has come in the past few years and it is a great evidence for the movement that schemes like BREEAM generate. BREEAM Oustanding is becoming the new exemplary level standard and the partners that are active in this innovative market are triggered to research and develop new technologies, new ideas. We at Bopro work actively together with our partners and clients to contribute to this movement. Being nominated with 5 projects shows that we stay on track for this goal.
Bopro adds also the economic aspect towards a more sustainable business model, rather than solely go for the maximum score. That is what we strive for, maximum added value for our clients, Unibail-Rodamco being a great example.
Back to work now, making sure we are nominated once again next year.
