As Consultant Quantity Survey, you will supervise a project through a value engineering approach in which you and your colleagues optimise the added value for the customer. You will monitor the total project and all costs related to construction and real estate projects, from the first calculations in the definition or design phase to the final settlement.

Within this function, your role is to optimise the cost of a building, taking into account the entire lifecycle of a building, and to improve the price-quality ratio. In doing so, required standards and predetermined quality are paramount.

You will assist the project team in the successful building assessment and certification of the building or area. This can be during the design, construction and/or renovation phase. You always report accurately and punctually on the progress and results of these assessments to the client.

Responsibilities

  • Making cost estimates, from ratios to element estimates, based on the programme of requirements and/or (detailed) design
  • Monitoring the construction costs during the design and execution phase and comparing them with the predetermined budget
  • Challenging the designers to achieve optimal value for money
  • Assist in the preparation of Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) and Total Cost of Ownership studies (TCO) to identify the most sustainable solutions
  • In addition to the construction cost, calculate the carbon cost
  • Collect pricing information on innovative products, materials and systems at all stages of the project life cycle to introduce sustainable and affordable solutions into the projects.
  • Prepare clear cost reporting for each phase
  • Breakdown of costs for the realisation of circular buildings
  • Preparing cost estimates based on BIM models
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including measurement statements, in cooperation with study agencies and/or the client
  • Checking cost calculations of study agencies
  • Review requisition statements
  • Evaluate and verify variation orders
  • Prepare risk analyses
  • Analyse results and write detailed progress reports

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or architecture (or equivalent through experience)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a calculator/cost manager in construction or real estate sector
  • Passionate about sustainability - sense of responsibility to strive for sustainable projects
  • Taking initiative is at the forefront of your vocabulary and you can set priorities
  • Strong communication skills and team player
  • You are fluent in Dutch and/or French, a basic knowledge of English is a plus
