In this building, many of the Red Cross’ core activities are centralised. It’s the new operating base of its Blood Services, responsible for the collection, processing and quality checking of all blood products. People can donate blood in the building and this blood is processed on site. The site contains a central laboratory, laboratories for immunogenetics, production and logistics platform, a library and it houses the donor relations department as well as medical secretaries.

Bopro and Red Cross share a sustainable vision. Together we took the environment into account in the building process and at the location of the site. Sango obtained the one and only BREEAM Outstanding post construction certificate in Belgium. It’s a “nearly zero energy building”.

Bopro was responsible for project management, cost management, sustainability advice, construction management, BREEAM Assessment and certification, safety coordination for the Red Cross’ Flanders new building, Sango.
