The Autonomous Municipal Company Maldegem is creating a multi-functional sports complex.
The project was modernised with due regard to durability. From first conception, attention was paid to the orientation, use of materials, and techniques applied, in order to reduce the energy needs of the building as much as possible. Furthermore, the building makes maximum use of renewable energy sources.
The project is under construction, occupation is expected by mid-2010.
Belgium recently won the Professional Jury Prize with this project during the innovation competition Challenge 2020.
