The new central Fire Station along Noorderlaan in Antwerp, at a former site of General Motors, had to offer a solution for the uneconomical dispersion of the fire brigades over the whole city.
A long temp approach was taken regarding the technical structure (ventilation via CO2 sensors, high efficiency energy recuperation, solar panels, etc.) and there was implementation of house automation for access control, traffic regulation, illuminated news trailers, notification systems, automatic sun blinds, etc.
